Teachers I will be praying for you in days to come. You face so many challenges in the classroom. Teachers are asked do to the impossible and when students fail it's you who gets the blame. Some say it's a thankless job. God knows I found that out the hard way. As I think about my situation, it's amazing to me how my future as a teacher was in the hands of five men who have never stepped foot in a classroom. (I think I'm right on that; forgive me if I'm not.) Something is really wrong with that. I do know for a fact that some got on the school board just to push their agendas concerning sports. Education is the last thing on their minds. It seems to me they treat educators like a deck of cards. Shuffling those around to other schools and new positions sometimes on a whim and others to allow their friends or family to get a job. Some in the deck are just thrown out because of some vendetta against the teacher. That was my case. I dared discipline a child whose mother works for a board member. Some say this is politics and happens in every job and just to let it go. I say bolony on that. I loved my job too much just to go away.
I do know this teachers, at West Jones be careful whom you trust. Someone and I don't for sure who it was, was spreading rumors about me to someone higher up. I was told this by a principal.
Maybe we need new rules on who can be a school board member. From what I've been told all you need is a high school diploma. So my teaching career, one I built for ten in a half years, was taken away by a chicken farmer, insurance agent and a Vet. I'm not sure what the other two do for a living. Point is none these men have a clue to what a teacher has to put up with.
They love to micromanage each school undermining administrators and teachers. Case in point was when a board member had the cheerleader scores changed to get his daugher on the squad. That's a great lesson to teach a child. You all know about that one but there are many more examples where they stick their noses where they don't belong.
Hopefully these people will be voted out in future elections. The whole point of this blog is five men and a superintendent should not have this much power it's a crime in itself. (A note to the English teachers. Forgive me for the bad spelling and grammer. I promise to work on that.) I miss you all and may God bless you.
