This video was shown in class on Friday. We have learned that monarchs and princes of Europe were looking for the shortest route to Asia. They competed to get to the riches that these lands held. They did this to gain power and wealth over one another. One of the most famous of these explorers was Christopher Columbus. Below is a scene from the movie 1492. This scene really portrays how it must have been when Columbus' men landed in what they thought was Asia.
